BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The man accused of killing East Baton Rouge School System administrator Marcus Spears was found incompetent to stand trial on Monday, June 8, meaning he cannot help his lawyers through the case.
Jaymie Thomas faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with Spears’ death.
It has been months of back and forth and delays regarding Thomas’ sanity. Reports came back inconclusive, but after a private discussion with attorneys and the judge, a decision was made on Monday.
The judge ordered that Thomas go through 90 days of jail-based restoration. He will do another evaluation to see if his mental health and sanity have been restored. If not, he will go to an outpatient facility where he will be treated further…
