ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A legend and icon in puppeteering, Michael McCormick, known for working on hit films like Labyrinth and Return of the Jedi, passed away in his Albuquerque studio in late May at the age of 85.
“We knew we were working on something pretty special,” Michael’s son Sean McCormick said. “We had no idea until we started doing the Comic Cons that we were affecting so many people. People were coming up to us with tears in their eyes. There was one man standing there in front of the table at the first Comic Con we did. He said did you ever think that the work you were doing would become so important to so many people. I was like, no.”
