[1] New Mexico officials address increase in suspected powdered fentanyl exposures – State officials are addressing the increase in suspected fentanyl exposures impacting first responders, detention officers, and employees. New Mexico’s Department of Public safety (DPS) said in the last year, they’ve seen an up-tick in cases involving powdered fentanyl. A trend, DPS said, that’s become more noticeable over the last six months. DPS emphasized the importance of safety protocols and training for any first responders handling cases involving possible drug exposures like powdered fentanyl.
[2] Puppeteer Michael McCormick’s son talks about father’s legacy – The son of puppeteering icon, Michael McCormick is speaking out about the legacy his dad left behind. Last month, Michael McCormick passed away in his Albuquerque studio at the age of 85. He moved to New Mexico when he was 5-years-old and worked out of his Albuquerque studio since the 1980’s. McCormick’s family is planning an open house in September at his studio, welcoming those who knew him and those who were inspired by his work.
[3] Heating up with mostly dry air in short term – The heat will stick around next week with little change in afternoon highs.
