Bow Mar plans to install gates to stop non-residents from driving on its public roads

BOW MAR, Colo. (KDVR) — The Town of Bow Mar is moving forward with plans to install gates on several of its public roads, blocking access to non-residents. It’s a proposal, town leaders said, is about curbing speeding drivers who cut through residential neighborhoods.

The small municipality southwest of Denver has approved a plan to install gates at two entrances to town, allowing only residents and authorized users, like first responders, to pass through.

Town officials said the move is designed to curb speeding and cut-through traffic from drivers using Bow Mar roads as a shortcut.

Bow Mar’s Board of Trustees has approved two gate locations so far. One is at the roundabout connecting Sheridan Blvd and Sunset Drive, just south of West Hampden Avenue. The other gate is proposed at the roundabout on Prospect Street, which connects to West Belleview Avenue. The town has also approved a road closure at Tufts Avenue, at the intersection of Sheridan Boulevard.
