The Community of Caring is asking for the public’s help in their efforts to make sure Erie’s homeless stay hydrated during the hot summer months.
The organization announced the start of its Operation Water Drop on Monday.

Executive director Christine Tombaugh said they’re hoping to collect cases of water at their East 8th Street location beginning on Monday and continuing throughout the summer.
With temperatures expected to reach into the 80’s next week with increased humidity, providing cold water for the homeless is a crucial service for the organization.

“Even last week, somebody stopped and said: ‘Boy, do you have any water? I’m really hot.’ And it’s just like, yes! We have to be able to keep the homeless and the needy that are walking around hydrated for the summer. It gets very hot, and that hydration really helps them,” said Tombaugh…
