FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A portion of Lafayette Street in south Fort Wayne was almost completely shut down Tuesday morning following a crash that left two people injured.
The collision happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection with East Sherwood Terrace. Dispatch confirmed all the northbound lanes of Lafayette were initially shut down, and just one southbound lane was open. Sherwood Terrace was shut down in both directions near the scene.
Dispatch also confirmed that of the two people hurt, one had serious injuries and the other was initially deemed to be in critical condition.
A WANE 15 crew at the scene said police were still holding the scene shortly before 9 a.m. but that, by then, only one lane was closed in both directions of Lafayette. The collision appeared to involve an SUV and a Camaro. It’s unclear if anyone else was involved besides the two who were injured…
