EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. There is a threat of excessive rainfall and isolated severe thunderstorms through this evening. The main concerns are flooding and damaging wind gusts that could impact your commute and outdoor plans.
What to Expect Today
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will move through during the morning hours, then conditions will clear somewhat this afternoon. However, don’t let the partly sunny skies fool you—scattered thunderstorms will develop again in the afternoon. High temperatures will reach 88 degrees, but the heat index will climb to around 100 degrees, making it feel significantly hotter.
Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible, which means some storms could produce damaging winds. Stay alert and keep an eye on the sky, especially if you’re heading outside between now and 7 p.m.
Tonight’s Outlook
Scattered thunderstorms will continue through the evening hours with mostly cloudy skies. Lows will only drop to 75 degrees. Isolated severe thunderstorms remain possible, so the threat doesn’t completely end after sunset. This is when flooding becomes a particular concern if storms stall over any area.
What You Should Do
- Avoid driving through flooded areas. Even a few inches of water can sweep vehicles off the road.
- Secure loose outdoor items that could be blown around by damaging winds.
- Keep pets indoors and have a safe place ready if severe weather develops.
- Stay tuned to First Alert Weather for the latest updates as conditions develop.
Looking Ahead
Wednesday and Thursday will bring hot and humid conditions with highs near 93 degrees. Heat index values will reach 100-105 degrees Wednesday afternoon and 98-102 degrees Thursday afternoon.
Isolated afternoon thunderstorms remain possible both days, but the main severe weather threat will have passed…
