Retiring pilot welcomed back to Ford Airport for last flight

CASCADE TOWNSHIP Mich. (WOOD) — As American Airlines Pilot Hans Intgroen landed his last airline flight, he was welcomed back to Gerald R. Ford International airport with fanfare.

“When I saw the firetrucks and I saw the water cannons, I actually had to tap my heart because it was getting me a little bit choked up,” said Intgroen, who is retiring after nearly 41 years with the airline.

As celebratory water cannons drenched the plane, Intgroen spied something on the ground that he didn’t expect…
