East Baton Rouge Parish voters will decide this month whether to renew a 10-year property tax for the parish’s Council on Aging that would fund services like meals and transportation for seniors.
On the June 27 ballot, the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging’s proposed measure is for a 10-year renewal of its existing property tax at a reduced millage rate of 2 mills.
A majority of voters approved this property tax for 2.25 mills in 2016. For the last two years, the millage has collected 2 mills after it was rolled back following a tax assessment year showing rising property values.
