(QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Brexton Busch, the 11-year-old son of late NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, opened his Cook Out Summer Shootout season with a strong run at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Racing in the Young Lions division of the Cook Out Summer Shootout, Brexton started 13th and worked his way up to sixth in the 25-lap race.

Driving a neon green No. 18, he avoided an early crash and steadily moved forward to finish inside the top 10 in his first race of the summer series.
The race comes after the passing of his father, Kyle Busch, who died on May 21, 2026, from complications of severe pneumonia that led to sepsis.
The NASCAR community has continued to honor him, including tributes from fellow driver Denny Hamlin over the weekend.
