Chesapeake native astronaut Andre Douglas selected for Artemis III crew

NEW YORK — A Chesapeake native has been named to the crew of NASA’s Artemis III mission, the next step toward eventually landing astronauts on the moon.

Andre Douglas, a graduate of Western Branch High School, will be part of the Artemis III crew, along with Randy Bresnik and Frank Rubio from NASA, as well as the European Space Agency’s Luca Parmitano.

The announcement came two months after Artemis II’s record-breaking trip around the moon, surpassing the distance record set by Apollo 13…
