A mountain lion lounging in the backyard of a Santa Monica, Calif., home recently prompted shelter-in-place warnings for nearby residents.
According to NBC4 Los Angeles, the cougar was first spotted on Friday, May 29, near 14th Street and Montana Avenue, where a viral video showed the big cat resting quietly among backyard plants in a residential neighborhood. Police urged residents to stay indoors and keep pets inside while officers coordinated with wildlife officials.
