Wild Video Shows Freight Train Derail, Hit Bridge Near Padres’ Petco Park In San Diego

Wild video shows a freight train carrying automobiles derailing and hitting a bridge near the Padres’ Petco Park in San Diego. Harbor Police and BNSF Railway reported that no one sustained injuries and no hazardous materials spilled.

The train accident occurred on the BNSF Railway, which runs beneath Harbor Drive, just south of Park Boulevard. At least three rail cars carrying automobiles toppled over, according to footage of the frightening scene released late on Sunday.

The derailment blocked Harbor Drive in both directions. Harbor Police told CBS 9 News that the road had to be closed because of the train wreck. San Diego Police also reported that because of the accident, a concrete barrier blocked all northbound vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
