Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred early Monday morning in Rockville.
According to police, officers from the 4th District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded at approximately 2:09am on June 8 to the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street for a reported collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation determined that 39-year-old Irrael Lopez Garcia was in the roadway when he was struck by a silver 2009 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road. Investigators initially believed the victim may have been operating a scooter, but have since determined he was not on a scooter at the time of the collision…
