University of New Mexico Hospital cuts ribbon on children’s psychiatric center

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The expansion of the University of New Mexico Hospital children’s psychiatric center is complete. On Tuesday afternoon, UNMH hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This more than 32,000 square-foot facility is designed to provide modern psychiatric care to children. It has 36 beds with the ability to expand up to 52. Construction on the new facility started in 2024.

UNM expects to start serving patients next month. The $36 million program was funded when voters approved a Higher Education General Obligation Bond in 2022…
