Aims Aircraft Maintenance Training received a donation of a rare Maverick TwinJet 1500 aircraft from Longmont resident Mike Seavall in May.
“It’s rare to get a donation of this magnitude,” said Michael Sasso, Aims Aircraft Maintenance Chief, who leads the training program. “It’s a great opportunity to learn about modern technology, even though the airplane was built back in the early 2000s. It’s built from materials that are being used today, such as carbon fiber.”
This aircraft is built with aviation technology that will provide students with hands-on experience repairing and maintaining such jets, according to officials.
Seavall, a pilot, flew the jet from Longmont to the Northern Colorado Regional Airport and then taxied it directly to the Aims Aircraft Center, where students and faculty gathered and waited for its final approach…
