EVIT opts to cover districts’ full busing costs

The East Valley Institute of Technology Governing Board on June 8 raised the ante in its fight with nine school districts by agreeing to put up $4 million for the entire cost of busing their students to its central Mesa campuses.

EVIT last month offered to take $2 million from its capital budget to help cover the transportation costs for nine districts suing it.

The nine districts failed to respond to the offer and instead started asking those students if they wanted to transfer to one of their on-campus Career and Technical Education programs…
