FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – It was another hot and humid day with a warm front well to our north. This has funneled in muggy air, but also concentrated most storm activity across central and northern Michigan. However, some storm outflows across Illinois will continue to scoot eastward through Northern Indiana and Ohio this evening, resulting in occasional downpours, gusty wind, and small hail. The severe risk remains very low.
The majority of Wednesday looks dry, hot, and humid with highs near 90º and a heat index near 100º. As a result, a First Alert Weather Day is in effect. Forecast models are struggling with what to do about a batch of potentially strong storms zipping across the Great Lakes Wednesday evening, with some suggesting they’ll miss us to the north, while others show a scenario where we get a mid to late-day round of rain. I would prepare for the possibility, but confidence is not too high at the moment.
Thursday is also a First Alert Weather Day and looks dry, hot, and humid with heat index values back to around 100º, however an approaching cold front bears watching for the evening and overnight…
