PepsiCo is operating a larger fleet of fully autonomous delivery trucks than Tesla’s current unsupervised robotaxi operation in Texas, highlighting the rapid real-world rollout of self-driving freight technology.
The snack and beverage giant, in partnership with autonomous trucking company Gatik, has deployed 41 driverless box trucks across Arizona, Texas, and Arkansas. These medium-duty Isuzu trucks, many delivering Doritos and other Frito-Lay products, have been running with no human on board since June 2025 on fixed short-haul routes between distribution centers, bottling plants, and stores such as Walmart and Dollar General.
