ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – Families in Albemarle County could face delays, longer rides and route adjustments this fall as the school district works to fill nine open bus driver positions.
The district is coming off a year where it struggled to keep all 160 routes covered. Daily callouts increased from a handful to nearly 30, according to the school system.
“As we’re ending our school year, we’re looking towards our next year to make sure that we’re prepared and that we’re able to support all of our students to get to school safely and on time,” Jamie Gellner, director of transportation for Albemarle County Public Schools said. “We are looking at nine open routes right now.”…
