Whitley County considers data center zoning regulations, and schedules public listening session

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WANE) As concerns grow regarding data centers across the country, many communities are enacting construction regulations, and in some cases even banning them.

Dozens are scheduled to be built in Indiana, and Allen County is home to a Google data center that has had its fair share of controversy.

In light of concerns that range from higher consumer electric bills to environmental issues, the Whitley County Plan Commission has scheduled a public listening session for June 24, as it considers potential data center zoning regulations.
