6th DUI arrest for Addison man after report of driver slumped over wheel

WHEATON, Ill. (WGN) — A suburban man must remain behind bars after authorities charged him with his sixth offense of driving under the influence, prosecutors in DuPage County announced on Wednesday.

Goran Brkic, 56, of Addison, faces one felony count of aggravated DUI. It was just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, that Addison police officers responded to a report of a driver slumped over the wheel at the intersection of Lake Street and Mill Road.

Arriving officer vehicle allegedly witnessed Brkic attempt to make a left turn in the westbound lane on Lake Street heading to southbound Mill Road. Officers positioned their squad cars in front of and behind Brkic’s vehicle to prevent him from moving, prosecutors added.

Once officers made contact with Brkic, police say he was disoriented and could not put his car in park. Officers noted an odor of alcohol and alleged that Brkic’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was .301.
