Community members push back after Dalton Police Department signs agreement with ICE

DALTON, Ohio — The state of Ohio is seeing a rapid expansion of what are known as 287G contracts over the past year. These contracts give federal immigration enforcement power to local law enforcement.

According to the ACLU, the state of Ohio didn’t have any of these at the start of 2025. Now, they exist in 11 counties.
