Arizona woman punched ICE agent in the face during protest outside Delaney Hall, feds say

An Arizona woman faces federal charges after allegedly punching a Homeland Security Investigations special agent in the face during a protest last week outside Delaney Hall in Newark.

Mariano Anthony Perez, 31, of Phoenix, was charged by complaint with forcibly assaulting a federal officer involving physical contact and appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Leda Dunn Wettre in Newark federal court on Monday 8, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred on June 5, during a demonstration near the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, federal prosecutors said.
