Storm Team 3: Dangerous heat expected, weekend storms likely

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Much hotter and more humid conditions are expected for the rest of the workweek and through the weekend.

Thursday morning will start out very warm with low temperatures only cooling into the lower to middle 70s for most locations. The warm start is due to high humidity slowing down how quickly the air can cool.

The afternoon will feature high temperatures warming into the lower to middle 90s for most of the area. Inland communities will be the hottest. When the humidity is factored in, the heat index (feels like temperature) will be as hot at 100°F during the later afternoon.

A few isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible in the later part of the day and may continue into the early evening. The best storm chances on Thursday will be west of I-95.

Friday afternoon through the weekend will likely be even hotter with actual high temperatures warming into the mid to upper 90s. Heat index values will be between 105°F and 110°F for most locations…
