BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man accused of repeatedly violating court-ordered ankle-monitoring restrictions is in custody after authorities say tracking data shows he traveled out of state and outside East Baton Rouge Parish numerous times.
The East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office filed a motion this week alleging tracking data shows Ashtin Ursin traveling nearly 120 mph on Interstate 10. District Attorney Hillar Moore said Ursin violated his bond conditions nearly 1,200 times in a short period.
“The judges use these ankle monitors because the prison is full. The prison is dilapidated. You can’t keep everyone in prison. So this is the next best thing — as long as someone is watching the monitor,” Moore said…
