The San Clemente City Council addressed a variety of issues during its June 2 meeting, including updates to the city’s goat-grazing fire-mitigation program, adoption of a two-year budget, concerns regarding Orange County’s homeless Point-in-Time Count and new policies governing public meetings and automated license plate reader data.
The meeting began with an update on the city’s goat-grazing program to reduce fire risk. City staff reported that contracts are being finalized for approximately 35 acres of open space near Vista Hermosa Sports Park and the Target store property. Officials said the city’s grazing contractor has also been coordinating projects with local homeowners associations and expects goats to begin working in additional areas once agreements are finalized.
The council also issued a proclamation recognizing July 4, 2026 as the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, encouraging residents to reflect on the nation’s founding principles and civic heritage…
