(WGHP) — A mix of sun and clouds this evening after officially seeing the hottest day of the year so far in the Piedmont Triad. Temperatures will eventually start to fall into the 80s by 7 p.m., but with the humidity, it’ll still feel like the 90s until the sun sets. A pop-up shower or isolated storm can’t be ruled out this evening, but most stay dry. There is the potential for a couple of strong to severe storms capable of producing 60 mph winds this evening, mainly for counties bordering Virginia.
We’ll see mostly clear skies overnight with mostly sunny skies by Friday morning. Our low temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s on Friday, and afternoon temperatures will likely reach the mid 90s, likely beating out Thursday’s high temp for the hottest day of the year so far. A few strong to severe storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts. Not everyone sees a shower or storm on Friday, but the potential is there with the heat and humidity, as well as an approaching front. The chance for storms is 30%.
Mostly sunny on Saturday and a very brief break from the humidity, but the heat sticks around. Morning lows in the low 70s and highs reach the low 90s. A good day to hang out at a pool or the lake…
