Man charged with attempted murder of Decatur cop wanted for failing to appear for trial

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A Morgan County judge issued a warrant Wednesday for a man charged with attempted murder for hitting an off-duty Decatur officer after documents state he failed to appear for his trial this week.

Gregory Martin Hill was arrested after doorbell footage showed Jack Brown, an officer with the Decatur Police Department, being hit by a Jeep in his front yard on August 16, 2022. In April 2023, Hill was indicted for attempted murder.

A jury trial was originally set for Dec. 4, 2023. Since then, the trial has been continued a number of times. Most recently, it was scheduled for trial on June 8, 2026…
