Man indicted after roommate killed with machete, DA says

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (WMC) – A 21-year-old man has been indicted in the death of his roommate.

DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton said a county grand jury indicted Maberic Javier Reyes on a murder charge stemming from the January killing.

The DA’s office said Reyes is accused of killing his roommate with a machete after an argument inside the home. Barton said Reyes is from Honduras and is in the country illegally.

“This indictment is a testament to the outstanding work of the Southaven Police Department and our team, who moved with urgency to ensure this dangerous criminal was brought to justice,” Barton said…
