BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Around 1,600 pounds of marijuana hidden in a commercial truck was intercepted by officers at the Peace Bridge Tuesday while attempting to enter the United States, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
After a shipment labeled as “chocolate” was flagged as irregular, CBP officers conducted a search of its truck and trailer and found vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in multiple cardboard boxes, the street value of which is estimated to be about $4 million.
“This significant seizure demonstrates the dedication and vigilance of our officers at the Port of Buffalo,” Acting Port Director Sharon Swiatek said. “By leveraging advanced technology and thorough inspection protocols, our team prevented over 1,600 pounds of illicit drugs from entering the United States. We remain committed to protecting our communities and upholding the integrity of our borders.”
