HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — The granddaughters of a High Point woman killed in 1986 said when her killer’s face appeared in the news again in 2026, they were horrified but not surprised.
Lisa Gammons and Linda Flick are the youngest granddaughters of Zella McGee. McGee was raped and murdered, and her home was set on fire in 1986. Her case went unsolved until 2015 when advances in DNA evidence led High Point Police to charge David Scarborough.
‘Some Justice’
“We didn’t think we would ever see an arrest. We didn’t think we would ever see a conviction … We feel like we got some justice,” Flick said.
The women fought hard to see a conviction in their grandmother’s case, but Scarborough was released in 2017 on time served…
