Let me start with an important caveat: I wish I had been able to find more information about this fascinating case. I’m usually amazing at digging stuff up online; however, I was only able to find one source (and a denied appeal with no useful information) about how Lubbock’s first McDonald’s was at the center of a murder-for-hire plot.
The First McDonald’s In Lubbock
The first McDonald’s in Lubbock was located at 50th & Ave T, which now has… a McDonald’s. While the building is new, that space has been slinging Happy Meals for nearly 60 years. It was rebuilt in 2016 under the ownership of Hugo Vargas, who apparently still owns several in the area. But back in 1968, the first McDonald’s was owned by a pair of families, the Boldts and the Mraovics.
