Suspected trafficker took man’s teen daughter as payment for $10k debt, Kenner officials say

Investigators with the Kenner Police Department say a man who helped a father and daughter illegally enter the country offered to wipe their $10,000 debt clean if the 16-year-old girl moved into his residence and became his “woman,” according to authorities.

Juven Paz, 34, was arrested on counts of human trafficking and second-degree rape for sexually assaulting the girl and forcing her to live at a Kenner home with him through extortion, Deputy Chief Mark McCormick said.

“It was all against her will,” McCormick said.

Officials had been searching for Paz for over two years when he was found in North Carolina in April…
