ABC4’s Wesley Ruff to retire after more than 40 years on Utah television

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Good Things Utah) – One of our favorite names in Utah sports broadcasting is leaving ABC4 after more than 40 years on the air. Wesley Ruff tells us it’s time to retire and play more golf!

Wes brought in what looks like a truck load of press passes that he’s received over the years and says one of his favorites is: “When they sent me to Japan to cover the Jazz playing the Phoenix Suns in 1990.”

Wesley has earned numerous awards for his reporting and anchoring. He has been named the Utah Sportscaster of the year as voted by his peers 5 times (1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008) and was named the Bill Howard Golf Citizen of the Year by the Utah Section PGA three times (2000, 2006, 2017). After his third win, the organization renamed the award as the Wesley Ruff Golf Citizen of the Year. He has also won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.
