A popular Cedar Rapids brewery is getting closer to opening its new taproom! Clock House Brewing is in the process of taking over the former Iowa Brewing Company on 3rd St SE, and new signs recently appeared on the building.
What Happened to Iowa Brewing Company?
Back in July of 2025, it was announced that Clock House Brewing would be taking over Iowa Brewing Company at 708 3rd Street SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids. But, Iowa Brewing Company isn’t gone for good. An article from Corridor Business Journal says that Clock House is going to continue Iowa Brewing Company’s legacy by producing some of their most popular beers, including Surf Zombies and Iowa Eagle, and they’ll carry on annual traditions like the Thanksgiving Day Cousin Eddie Party and Blessing of the Bock. The post from Clock House reads:
“We’d like to congratulate Brian and Craig [2 of Iowa Brewing Company’s founders] on their well-earned retirement. Their hard work, vision, and passion helped cultivate something truly special here in Cedar Rapids. We wish them all the best in their next chapter and are honored to continue what they started.”

About Clock House on 3rd
According to Clock House Brewing, the new taproom will be called Clock House on 3rd, and it described as, “a laid-back, inviting spot to connect with friends over a great pint.” Since the announcement last year, they’ve been working to “turn the space into a hub for cyclists, live music, and community events” by renovating the patio and installing a small kitchen.
Thanks to the bigger space, Clock House Brewing will also be able to produce even more beer! A 2025 article from Iowa’s News Now reads:…
