A woman died from her injuries after a tree along the Matthew Henson Trail in Aspen Hill fell on her during storms on Thursday.
The tree fell in an area of the trail near Hewitt Avenue at around 9 p.m. Thursday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue public information officer Pete Piringer said in a video posted on social media. The victim was pinned, critically injured and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Piringer also noted that the victim had a leadership role in a local volunteer fire department, saying that “we too are grieving at this loss to our community.”…
