Tulsa City Council Moves to Codify Municipal Code Lien Procedure for Nuisance Violations

Tulsa’s City Council is considering a new chapter in city code that could formalize how unpaid nuisance violation fines are converted into liens attached to a property—a change with real implications for anyone buying, selling, or refinancing in the city.

The measure, sponsored by Mayor Monroe Nichols along with council members Bellis, Decter Wright, Lakin, and Bush, would add a new Chapter 5—titled “Municipal Code Lien Enforcement Procedure”—to Title 24 of the Tulsa Revised Ordinances, which governs nuisances.
