Saturday was yet another hot day in the San Joaquin Valley, and that’s not going to change for a while. The triple digit temperatures will continue through the middle of next week, finally cooling back down as we approach next weekend, and… the first day of Summer? Regardless, we’ve got a hot last week of Spring ahead for us.
High temperatures soared back into the triple digits on Saturday, topping out at 100 in Madera, 102 in Hanford and Merced, 103 in Fresno and Porterville, and 104 in Visalia. Saturday was Fresno’s third day in a row and third day overall of triple digit high temperatures.
There were some spectacular cumulus clouds which built up over the Sierra Nevada Saturday afternoon, leading to a few isolated late afternoon thunderstorms up there. Those storms dissipated by sunset, but should fire up again Sunday afternoon. Despite the wall of clouds that developed Saturday afternoon, there were only a few storms, and not much rain. The air is too dry and high pressure too strong to allow for significant thunderstorm development right now…
