Black Family Statue unveiled at San Diego park

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — More than 50 years after it was first created, a beloved community landmark has returned to Mountain View.

Community members, elected officials and the family of artist Rossie Wade gathered Saturday at Neal Petties Mountain View Community Park for the unveiling of a new version of the Black Family Statue, a symbol of family unity, strength and perseverance.

“It’s an emotional moment,” said Lynn Wade, one of the artist’s daughters. “My father would be so, so proud and happy today.”…
