Boston bars can now stay open until 3. Here’s why some don’t want to

The City of Boston is letting restaurants and bars stay open until 3 a.m. as the city hosts World Cup watch parties, celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. and an assortment of summertime events.

But given this first-of-its-kind initiative, restaurant workers are wary of the impact the later hours could have on their establishments as the city’s public transportation won’t be operating as long, staff grow tired from longer shifts and patrons could become rowdy.
