Greensboro has updated its Land Development Ordinance to adopt a fresh set of FEMA flood maps for Guilford County, replacing the flood insurance study that had been the official standard since 2007.
The ordinance amendment swaps in the new FEMA Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and associated Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) panels for Guilford County, dated June 10, 2026, in place of the June 18, 2007 maps that had been adopted by reference in the city’s code.
What the map update means for property owners
The maps are the official basis for identifying special flood hazard areas and future conditions flood hazard areas under Greensboro’s flood damage prevention rules.
