Lansing cemetery picnic remembers historic tradition

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – The Friends of Lansing Historic Cemeteries held a picnic at Mount Hope Cemetery, remembering a tradition from when cemeteries served as the first parks.

Cemeteries were common gathering places many years ago. People gathered on Sundays to pay respects to the dead and visit each other.
