HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After a very humid weekend, the Tennessee Valley is forecast to see a brief break.
A cold front that pushed through the region on Monday morning will become stationary to the south of the area. This will keep the best chance of rainfall across the central and southern parts of Alabama. As winds shift out of the north behind the front, drier and more comfortable air will filter into the region.
Dew points will fall into the 60s on Monday, which will feel fantastic after last week’s tropical feel. The drier air in place will also support mostly to partly sunny skies! It will be a great day to spend the afternoon poolside, just don’t forget the sunscreen.
After starting the day in the mid to upper 60s, temperatures will warm into the upper 70s to low 80s by the afternoon.
Next Best Chance For Steady Rain:
As we head towards late Wednesday through Friday, the potential for rain will return. We will be monitoring the progression of a developing low-pressure system along the Gulf Coast. At the same time, a cold front will push south.
The combination of these systems will increase the chance for steady rain and isolated storms. As of Monday morning, the steadiest rain is forecast to arrive late Thursday and persist into Friday morning.
With potentially 1 to 2.50 inches of rain possible from this event, it could lead to localized flooding concerns. The Weather Prediction Center has already highlighted our area under a Slight Risk for flash flooding to occur. Although the highest rain totals will be to the south and west of the area, we will still be monitoring radar trends closely…
