Darrow woman pleads guilty to Manslaughter in 2024 shooting

On Tuesday, Kendra Washington of 3096 Hwy 75 Darrow, LA, age 54, pled guilty to Manslaughter. Washington was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chris Carter, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. This guilty plea comes following the 2024 shooting death of 45-year-old Mark Perkins of Geismar.

On June 15, 2024, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Darrow residence in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject, who was identified as Mark Perkins, lying outside the residence near the steps suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Perkins was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

During an interview of Kendra Washington, after giving multiple different versions of events, Washington confessed to shooting Perkins. Detectives learned that Washington and Perkins had a disagreement prior to the shooting. Washington was ultimately arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail…
