McCall Plaza in downtown Plano turned into a little corner of Japan on Saturday evening, as hundreds of soccer fans gathered for Japan Day to celebrate Japanese culture, World Cup fever and community.
The event, organized in partnership with Japanese soccer supporters group, Ultras Nippon, and local FC Dallas supporters the Dallas Beer Guardians, was equal parts pep rally and block party. Fans in blue Japan kits mingled with curious locals, first-timers and die-hards who had clearly been waiting all summer for exactly this kind of night.
The real heartbeat of Japan Day was the cultural exchange happening in real time across the plaza. Japanese entertainers and DJs took the stage throughout the evening, blending traditional flair with high-energy performance in a way that kept the crowd engaged….
