A Republic, Missouri, man has been sentenced in federal court after admitting to being an unlawful user of a controlled substance while possessing firearms.
Franklin E. Brownlee, 41, received a sentence of 60 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole from Senior U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool. After completing his prison term, Brownlee will serve three years of supervised release. He entered a guilty plea on Dec. 18, 2025.
Court records show that deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at Brownlee’s residence on March 27, 2025. During the incident, Brownlee discharged a firearm over the victim’s head. After learning that law enforcement officers were responding to the property, Brownlee, who was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine, gathered multiple firearms and began behaving erratically.
