Upper section of Mount Pisgah summit trail to close for improvements

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — A section of trail at Mount Pisgah will close later this month as crews conduct improvement work aimed at reducing erosion and improving accessibility, Lane County Parks officials said.

The upper portion of Summit Trail 1 at the Howard Buford Recreation Area will be closed from June 17 through June 19. The closure affects the final half-mile segment leading to the summit.

The work, being completed by Oregon Woods, includes removing large rocks and other obstacles, building drainage features to limit erosion and placing new gravel to improve trail stability and drainage, officials said.

During the closure, access to the summit will be available only via Trail 6. Trail 2 will also be inaccessible because it connects to the closed upper section of Trail 1 near the summit…
