VERY WARM TONIGHT
After several record-breaking temperatures on Sunday, the heat reaches its peak today.
Many inland communities will climb into the upper 90s this afternoon, with some locations from Hillsboro to Salem approaching 100 degrees. It will feel even hotter than yesterday in some areas, thanks to the unusually warm start to the day.
Some locations may challenge record warm low temperatures this morning after temperatures stayed elevated overnight. That limited cooling will make it harder to shake the heat before another very hot afternoon develops.
EXTREME HEAT WARNING AND ADVISORY
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Tuesday evening for the Portland and Vancouver metro areas, western Columbia Gorge, Portland West Hills, and east Clark County. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for many surrounding communities. Highs today will reach the mid-90s to near 100 degrees, with warm overnight temperatures limiting relief before conditions begin easing tomorrow.
RELIEF ARRIVES TOMORROW
The first noticeable change arrives tonight and continues into tomorrow.
Temperatures take a step down on Tuesday, ending the most intense part of the heat event. Inland highs return to the 80s, and the likelihood of another 90-degree day drops sharply across much of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.
While temperatures will still run above average, it will be a very different feel compared to the heat of the past two days.
A SHORT BREAK FROM THE HEAT
The cooling trend continues on Wednesday as temperatures remain in the 80s across much of the inland valleys…
