School is almost out for summer, but safety never takes a vacation. Across New York state, cities have been working to make school zones safer for pedestrians, using automated measures like installing cameras on school bus stop arms and traffic lights. Some of those cities are opting to keep that surveillance up well past the last bell.
It’s almost summer, and while students will be looking forward to some time off, the city of Syracuse says cameras installed in school zones will still most definitely be powered on.
“We still have students, faculty, staff…in the buildings throughout the summer,” Syracuse’s Deputy Mayor Corey Driscoll Dunham said. “And so, you know, the program will continue.”…
